How the conference letter is calculated

A conference letter uses only the financial health letters already on its member pages. It does not add a filing, a dollar, or an estimate.

Each member letter is a point: A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1, F = 0. School grades in this book are A, B, C, D, F, or Incomplete. They do not use plus or minus. A plus or minus is not given a point. A member letter that is not one of those five letters, and is not Incomplete, is listed and left out of the average.

Incomplete members are listed and left out of the average. The conference letter is the unrounded average of the graded points. A is 3.5 or higher. B is 2.5 up to but not including 3.5. C is 1.5 up to but not including 2.5. D is 0.5 up to but not including 1.5. F is below 0.5. These are the same cutoffs as a school grade. The average in the grade reason is rounded to two decimal places for reading. The letter uses the full average, not that rounded display. If no member has a letter, the conference is Incomplete.

The grade reason quotes a reason already written on the member grades. Highest and lowest are the best and worst letters among graded members. A tie lists every school with that letter.
